Caleb Call, founder and director of Go Deeper Travel Services, caught the travel bug as a college student during a 10-week agricultural internship in the Philippines and homestay with a local Muslim family through a cultural exchange program in Indonesia. When brought to tears by the goodbyes said to his host family, he realized that it’s people, not places that make all the difference. It was the people that drew him to return to Indonesia after college for two years of a deeper immersion into Indonesian life, language, culture, friendships, and agricultural development.
Having been long fascinated by India from afar, his first trip there in 2013 hooked him. Once again, it was the people. A common saying in India, “atithi devo bhav,” meaning, “Guests are like gods,” conveys the warmth and respect given to outsiders who visit India. Having experienced those relationships, he longed to fulfill his dream to use travel and tourism to create international spaces for people to know and learn from one another. Thus was born Go Deeper Travel Services.
Caleb brings to the business his 2-years of living cross-culturally in Indonesia (check out his blog!), his work and study in international socio-economic development, his experience organizing and leading small travel groups to Asia, and his three years of experience coordinating non-profit volunteer and internship travel experiences for college students and young adults.
